Tuxedo NOTD (Zooey Deschanel)

Zooey Deschanel (who starred in 500 Days of Summer and now plays Jess in New Girl) supported cute little tuxedos on her nails at the 2012 Golden Globes!

I recreated this look with a step-by-step tutorial for you to follow if you want to get Zooey's cute tux nails too!

Step 1: Paint your nails white

I used two coats of Revlon Nail Enamel in 050 White On White (over a base coat) to get a nice opaque snow white base.

Step 2: Black tips

Using a swipe method, I applied one coat of Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish in 080 Black Cab on the tips of my nails to create the French manicure look.

Step 3: Buttons!

Zooey's nails actually had 3 buttons but I thought two fitted nicely on my nails. Hers also increase in size (from top to bottom) so it's up to you how you want them. I used a dotting tool to get perfect dots.

Step 4: Add the bow ties

These little bow ties are quite easy to draw. I used the nib end of my Inglot Nail Art Enamel in 36 Black two draw two rounded triangles that touch each other. You can just draw an 'x' and join up the edges, but this will be less rounded.

You can stop here, and have a nice cream finish to the nails, just add a top coat to prevent chipping etc but being me, I had to add a little sparkle...

Step 6: Glitter top coat

I applied one layer of Nails Inc Electric Lane Holographic Top Coat to give me some extra glam to my little tuxedos! Then I used one layer of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat (which is a new love!) to seal in my design.

Clarisonic Diary - Week 3

Things with the Clarisonic have been great! Still the same feeling I get when I use it and I do look forward to my daily shower. I find that the bristles seem to stain when I've been wearing foundation so I just make sure I use a bit of Superdrug Tea Tree Foaming Face Wash to really clean off the bristles after use.

I do have a few little blemishes but I don't think this is due to the Clarisonic so I think it's now safe to say I didn't go through that 'purging phase'! My skin care routine must've been quite good before and I'm glad the products I like are still doing well for me.

Thought I'd just give a little mention to Victoria (Birdcage Beauty) who had purchased the Clarisonic Mia (in yellow which is what I wanted, and she wanted the lavender!) around the same time. She's written a little about it and she'll be updating her experience as well. Here is a link to her first week.

Next update in another week's time! (I'm thinking of doing an updated skin routine video too)

The rush is never ending OOTD

This is the outfit I wore out for a friend's birthday. There is a small keyhole in the back of the lace at the top, but my hair covered it.

* Elsa Rose Lace Bodycon Dress in Wine from Motel Rocks

* Long Peacock Necklace from Accessorize (It got caught up in the lace from my dress so I didn't end up wearing it out of the house)

* Black Tights

* Black shoeboots with triple buckle from Marks & Spencer

My body shape is actually quite weird. My top half is a size smaller than my bottom half... so you can probably see a bit of ruffling at the sleeves. The shoulder area was a tad large too but I made it work :)

For my make up, I kept it quite simple as the dress is so loud being a wine red and lace! I darkened up my eyes from the day by blending brown eyeshadow into the crease. I also wore eyeliner on the outer edges.

No blush, I just used bronzer so give my face some definition. I only had one lipstick with me (Revlon Pink In The Afternoon) so I applied that and used GOSH Light'n Glaze in 05 over the top.

I think the wine shade puts a spin on the black lace dress that everyone seems to have. What do you think??

CNY 2012 NOTD & Tutorial

Happy Chinese New Year!!!!!

May the Dragon being you great prosperity, luck and good fortune to you and your family!

I created this red and gold nail look so that you can all bring some Chinese culture to your daily lives :)

Prepstep: Prep the nails

This isn't a step I normally include (although I always do it) but because we're working with red, a base coat should help prevent any staining on the natural nails. I used two coats of OPI Nail Envy Matte and one coat of OPI Natural Nail Base Coat.

Step 1: Paint the nails

Using any red of your choice (I used Maybelline Express Finish Lacquer in Cerise/Cherry), cover your nails with two coats to get a nice even opaque colour.

Step 2: Create the gold diagonal

This gold diagonal is a little trickier than a straight diagonal so I split it into two steps.

Using the brush with a small amount of polish, make three curves on the diagonal of your nail.

~ b ~

Fill in the gap! (I used myface.cosmetics Lil' Bling nail polish in Gilt-y)

Step 3: Add gold glitter

I used Nails Inc Chelsea Embankment to cover the gold polish to make my nails sparkle!

Step 4: Outline the diagonal

I decided I needed some red glitter too so I used a red glitter striper polish (Zhiyu Glitter striper polish in Red) to outline the diagonal and add even more sparkle!

You can end here and just apply a top coat if you want, you don't have to write the Chinese word (Fu ~ a well-wishing word meaning something like fortune) but I've included a little step-by-step so you can, if you want :)

Step 5: Draw the Chinese word

I just used my Inglot Nail Art Enamel in 36 Black to write the word.

Step 6: Apply a top coat

To be honest, my Chinese writing sucks. Especially on nails!!

This week is very short and simple. I was ill with the flu since I got home on Sunday until today.

I think I've finally recovered but it means I spent a lot of my time in bed and didn't really get out much.

This was such a life saver! (Boots own brand works just as well tbh)

Wigglytuff is my new screen saver.

This has been helping to soothe my throat :)

The new series of Gossip Girl is out in USA! So I celebrated by painting my nails :)

Clarisonic Diary - Week 2

Bah! Sorry this is a little late...

You see, I've been a sick bunny the past week. The flu has kept me in bed and not doing much else other than watching films, taking meds and sleeping.

I have been using my Clarisonic though and it's still giving me that great skin feeling! I went one day without using it as I stayed at a friend's house and didn't pack it (also we went out for a birthday and got home at 4ish) but I wasn't craving to use it and I felt that two wipes sufficiently took off all my make up.

I have noticed a few little bumps on my forehead but they seem to have subsided and that might've just been from my pores going crazy as my fever kept going hot and cold - by that I mean I was shivering from being so cold and then 4 hours later I was sweating from being so hot :/

Other than that, no miraculous improvements on my skin but I have noticed that I haven't been getting any blemishes *touch wood* since I've been using it! So all's good there :)

So next update in another week :)

XO XO Gossip Girl NOTD

This is the Lily collection (there are three, the other two are Blair & Serena).

Two coats of Lily give this yummy rich dark plum shade. The colour is a bit too dark for me though so I doubt I'll be wearing it often. It's sort of reminiscent of OPI Linkin Park After Dark.

The formula of this polish didn't seem the best. It was quite thick and seemed quite dry so it wasn't easy to apply to the nails. I think if it was a little more on the liquid side it would be a dream to apply and would be opaque in one coat.

High Society is where all the magic happens and the entire reason I bought this set.

This polish is packed full of beautiful shiny flakes that are sort of holographic. In different lights you can see them show yellow, orange and green.

It does seem to show mostly green in most lights.

But doesn't it remind you of GOSH Rainbow? Why did they discontinue that gorgeous polish?!

Bourjois Burgundy NOTD

I am obsessed with burgundy at the moment. It's currently my favourite colour and I found this nail polish hidden in my collection from about 4 years ago now!

It's my only Bourjois polish but I think it's a great one to have.

I added a little star in the corner of both my middle fingernails to give it a touch of sparkle!

The shade is number 8. It makes me sad when companies don't give colours names... sometimes that's the fun part and attracts you to the polish even more... well maybe that's just me!

There are two cons to this polish for me:
1. The brush
I think this brush is such a good idea, but for girls with smaller nails, it just doesn't work! I get the polish all over my fingers because the brush is just a mammoth size compared to others. I think OPI have got the perfect size brushes.
2. When removing the polish, your hands get covered in pinky-red dye from the nail polish remover mix with the polish and you might look like you killed someone recently...

I do LOVE this colour though and even my mother complimented me on it ;)

Clarisonic Diary - Day 7

Wow. This is possibly the first time I've done a post on a Sunday that wasn't an Instagram one in a while!

I wore quite heavy eye make up today so I did remove it before I cleansed my face. I noticed the brush was getting stained again though. I thought I'd give it a little cleanse so I used one pump of the Superdrug Tea Tree Foaming Face Wash and just used my finger to gently work the cleanser into the bristles. I rinsed it under my shower and the bristles did seem a lot cleaner after.

I love feeling the deep clean I get with my Clarisonic after wearing a medium-full coverage foundation. It helps me feel more secure that I'm not clogging my pores and that I can let my skin fully repair and heal overnight.

There's nothing much else to report. Skin seem fine and all!

I think I'll leave this diary for now. No purging has happened so I think it's safe to say I'm good with the Clarisonic. I'll update you in another weeks time :)

Clarisonic Diary - Day 6

I wore a full face of make up today so I decided I would remove my make up before using the Clarisonic. So before I got in the shower, I used two pumps of the Laneige Cleansing Oil (similar to Shu Uemura) onto my dry made up face to melt the product off. Then I rinsed my face, left it wet and applied my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish as normal.

The cream doesn't stick so well to a wet face but nevertheless, I buffed my skin with the Clarisonic. Similar results as before and it still seems to be doing wonders with the texture of my skin. I did notice a slight bit of redness today but that just means the blood flow is stimulated which helps with repair and things.

So all is good still :)

Irrisistible Nail Art GLITTERRR NOTD

My life is so sparkly right now!!!!!!

For an intense glitter look on your nails, try Irrisistible Nail Art Glitters! These are great and can be used in many different ways on many different nails including acrylics, gels, fibreglass/silk nails, minx and shellac too.

I love this silver holographic loose glitter and so I applied to my natural nails.

The first method is to add the glitter to a clear polish and then apply the mixture. I didn't really fancy buying a clear polish to try this method so I used the second method which gave me a great sparkle!

The instructions said to use a base and top coat so I prepped my nails with some O.P.I. Nail Envy.

Firstly, paint your nail with a clear polish. In my case, I used 17 Double Gloss Top Coat. Then dip your still wet nail into the pot of glitter.

I tapped off the excess into the lid so I could pour it back into the jar. I had to brush some of the glitter from my skin using a dry finger.

But it really sticks well :)

I applied more top coat after sufficient drying time (about 5 mins). I waited for the top coat to dry and then added another. I like a smooth-ish feel to the nails so I did 4 coats in total :P

My nails just sparkle so much more in bright light, so here is a flash picture :)

I'm sure I'll be able to use these in nail designs, specifically applying the wet polish in certain areas or even mix a little into a drop on some paper and then use a nail art brush to apply!

Possibly difficult to remove, but that is the price you pay for glitter on your nails! Also, the 5 (total) coats of polish thicken up together making it quite easy to pick off after a while ;)

Clarisonic Diary - Day 4

Last night I kept feeling my skin as my head was lain against my pillow. It was so soft and it hasn't changed since I woke up! It's as if I have a smoothing primer on my skin but I know I've only got moisturiser on.

I only rinse my face in the morning and apply The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion. I found even normal cleansing my face twice a day irritated it so I'm definitely sticking to using the Clarisonic in the evenings only for now.

I did notice a tiny little white head right beside my eye when I woke up but it's nothing major and with a little help of Origins Super Spot Remover, I'm positive it will be fully gone by the next two days. Also, my other blemishes are diminishing. Hooray!

Still amazed at how great the Clarisonic makes my skin feel after I use it! I didn't have to worry about my eyes again today as I only wore foundation, concealer and lipstick. When I was rinsing off the residue cleanser, my skin just felt so smooth!

I did notice the bristles looking a bit dull already so I rinsed them under my shower quite well and then noticed a little bit of residue on the edge of the brush head. I took off the brush and rinsed inside as well. You're only supposed to do this once a week but it never hurts to clean it more often.

So from what I can tell so far, the Clarisonic is working well and I'm not purging... yet.

New year, new polish! NOTD

On December 31st 2011, my mother and I went to Westfield in White City and spotted Colourcopia having a small sale on certain ranges of O.P.I. and Nicole by O.P.I. I picked one polish (which cost me £5.25 instead of the orginal £11 here in the UK) as it stood out to me on the shelves and I hadn't seen it before.

This is 'I Lily Love You'.

I think the name is so cute (like most of the O.P.I. polishes I own)

Now that I think about it, it's quite like GOSH Rainbow but with a sheer hot pink base.

In these pictures I've applied it over the O.P.I. You're A Doll! which is a light lilac shade so I doubt it has affected the end result. I also used two layers so the pink is brighter.

Clarisonic Diary - Day 3

I was very much looking forward to using the Clarisonic again today. I just got out the shower and the only thing that did disappoint me was that one minute isn't actually very long. The sonic pulses really feel therapeutic and this time I counted in my head for each section.

I believe you can use the Clarisonic twice a day (morning & evening) but trying not to irritate my skin too much, I'm only using it in the evening for now.

I didn't wear any make up today so I didn't have to worry about my eyes. After cleansing with the device, I just rinsed my face of any left over residue. My skin does feel so smooth and clean after use and I feel the after products (ie moisturisers) are really getting sucked into the skin.

I do have a few blemishes but I don't think these are due to the Clarisonic as they were appearing before I began using it.

Clarisonic Diary - Day 2

Welcome to day 2, my friends. This is an exciting day. The first day of use!!

I have been a little bit conscious of the 'purging phase' (when your skin is getting rid of toxins so you break out that can last 2-3 weeks!) that some reviews show so I did a little Googling and found that a lot of people didn't actually go through that phase. This made me feel a little less weary and I know if I do go through it, it's only clearing out my skin and then it will be amazing after.

Even though the Clarisonic Mia comes with a mini cleanser designed for it, I decided to keep using the same skincare routine I've been using for a while as I know this doesn't damage my skin. I'm hoping that using the same products as I have been will lessen the chance of breaking out.

So these are the products I'm currently using at night in this order:

* Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

* Superdrug Tea Tree Foaming Face Wash

* Olay Beauty Fluid in Normal/Dry/Combination

* The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Night Cream

So after reminding myself of the instructions, I applied my Liz Earle cleanser to my dry fully made up face as I would do normally and spread the cleanser using my fingers all over my face including my eyes. The leaflet says to remove eye makeup before using the Clarisonic but I didn't. I hopped in the shower, wet the brush and placed the bristles on my forehead.

I pressed the on/off button and moved the device in small circular motions as said in the leaflet. I didn't want to be too hasty with moving onto different sections of my face so I stayed on my forehead for quite a while and then moved onto my cheeks.

20 secs forehead, 10 secs each cheek and then 20 secs for the nose and chin.

I got to my second cheek and then a few seconds later, it stopped! To my surprise I had spent a whole minute already. So I quickly turned the device back on and ran it over my nose and chin.

After I finished using it, the bristles were full of foundation. But it seemed to show that it got off a lot of the makeup on my face. I rinsed it under my shower until it was white again and placed the cap back on.

Using a muslin cloth, I removed any remaining cleanser and also my eye makeup. Then I used two pumps of the tea tree foaming face wash before I got out of the shower.

I patted my face dry on my towel and felt my skin with my hands. It was so soft and smooth, like I had just exfoliated!

Then, I applied both my moisturisers. After a few minutes I noticed my skin feeling slightly tight but it lessened again and now my skin is just smooth.

I do currently have quite a few blemishes but I think this is down to hormones...

Clarisonic Diary - Day 1

So, since my purchase of the Clarisonic Mia in Lavender, I decided I would do a daily diary (for now) to document my thoughts on the whole thing.

Day 1 is quite boring. After reading countless reviews and watching many video reviews I took the plunge and bought the Clarisonic Mia from my local SpaceNK.

I took out the device, played around with it. It did actually turn on when I first got it out of the package but considering the leaflet said charge it for 24 hours prior to first use I plugged it in and left it on my night stand.

I noticed the light flashing as it was charging and when I connected it, a buzz was sent through. Also, when you remove the charger it buzzes. It was less than 24 hours when I switched it off, but I saw the light had become constant and so I chose to switch off the power. Ready to use the next day as I had already showered etc.

I will be doing daily updates for the first week, then weekly for the first month. Then do a three and six month update :)

I've wanted this for such a long time and everyone else was getting theirs so I thought I should get one too! As this is quite a high purchase I had researched into it a lot and even looked at alternate cheaper options. It's always good to shop around first.

I am going to write a Clarisonic Diary (starting today!) so you can follow me through my journey. I'll be discussing my thoughts and how the product works out for me over the first few days, then after one week, two weeks, one month etc.

Another spur-of-the-moment purchase... In Westfield White City Colourcopia had some sale O.P.I. so I had to get one! When do you ever get O.P.I. for under £6 in the UK except online?? This shade stood out to me and I love how its flakes of glitter which makes it even more unusual. Also the name is cute.

My New Dune Love #

We had a family friend stay with us for a few days and both my parents and I were free on Thursday so we all took a day trip down to Portsmouth. We went to Gunwarf Quays which houses a wonderful outlet shopping centre with many great brands marked down. Also, being early January, there are still a few sales reducing prices even further and all the kids have gone back to school so it was a lovely quiet time to go!

Dune was one of the first few stops we made. My mother was looking for some strong leather boots for winter times and I remembered seeing some beautiful gold glitter shoes in Dune so we popped in. Little did we know we would pick up three pairs between us!

I spotted these silver heels and pretty much fell in love.

To my astonishment they were reduced from £85 down to £25 so I quickly asked one of the sales assistants for the other side and tried them on.

They're rather comfortable for heels and fit gorgeously. I love the height they give me!

As I was walking around the store in them, the sales assistant quickly piped up that there was an extra 20% off sale prices making my shoes down to £20. That tipped me over the edge and mother saying they were good value meant that I was getting them!

I adore glitter and especially on the nails! It's the ultimate party night tonight and so of course glitter is an essential part of that :D For this super sparkly glitter look, I don't mind having to pick or soak my nails to get it off. Daily Nails Challenge - Design 15

Design 15: Shiny

I actually wasn't quite sure what I meant by "shiny" when I came to do this design. I was choosing my shiniest polishes but they all came to be glittery and I decided that should be left for the final one. So I eventually picked a holographic polish that suited the shiny description but also wouldn't be too glittery to undermine the final design either.

I love how this polish just brings that added sparkle without screaming anything. It catches the light and takes my breath away. So no design as this doesn't need anything. On it's own, it's divine!

Unfortunately for me, I only have two DS polishes from OPI and the one I chose to use happens to be the one with the name rubbed off :( I believe it could be DS Exclusive but you can't quote me. Sorry. I am a fail!

Glossy Box Review (Oct, Nov & Dec 2011)

Last week I was pleasantly surprised with the gift of the Decemeber 2011 Glossy Box (Christmas edition) as it arrived at my door :)

I haven't posted much about Glossy Box in the past (only one post when I went to their beautiful event and a couple of mentions) but I now have three official boxes so can give you a competent review!

One of the great things about Glossy Box is that a lot of bloggers are on their subscription list. This excites me because I actually don't have a lot of time to try out new products (shocker!) so when I see someone who I trust talking about a product they love from one of the Glossy Boxes, I rush to try it! It's great that I already have it so I can try it immediately after reading/watching about it.

A lot of the products are sample size but they are very luxurious brands and so I don't expect a full-size.

I filmed a lengthy review which you can watch below :) talking about the three boxes I've received and little mini reviews on each product. I've also explained about Glossy Dots (their rewards point system) and gift subscriptions!

Daily Nails Challenge - Design 11

Design 11: Gradient/Ombre

So for this design, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do it on each nail, or change shade from pinky to thumb. I decided I would recreate a glitter gradient on individual nails as this look elegant, but still festive and so so sparkly!!! I was going to add a different glitter to the tips but I felt this simple look was great and so opted to just leave it as it is :)

Mini Origins Haul!

Hey there ^^

Ever since I saw this product on Anna's blog, Vivianna Does Makeup, I have wanted this. Link to her review is here. I've also seen that the lovely Jo from Beautylicious Love post a review too :)

I picked this up today from my local House of Fraser as there is quite a large Origins counter there and I knew I'd be able to grab it before work.

On first impressions, the Origins Super Spot Remover has a scent. It's not unpleasant, it's quite hygienic smelling but some may be put off by this. It's actually a gel which is quite weird since it's packaged in a mini bottle, but it's so cute and perfect for carrying around with you for on-the-go use. It dries nicely on the skin (probably because of the alcohol) but there is a slight tight feeling if you apply it over an area, rather than just focus on one spot.

I thought the customer service I received was great! After picking the product I wanted, the sales assistant asked me if I needed help with anything else and she was able to answer my question (Q: Can the Super Spot Remover be used over makeup? A: Yes!) easily - knowing your products, yes! As I was paying for it, she asked me if I was signed up with Origins to receive their samples of new products they make. I was not, so she gave me a card to fill out and take my details so I could get said samples. Then after paying, she gave me my product and a free little sample (15ml) of A Perfect World moisturizer that suits my skin!

So far, Origins gets two big thumbs up from me, and I don't even know if the products work for me yet! However, if they don't work out I know I can pop to the counter and pick up something more suitable, be greeted by a friendly face and lots of products to choose from :)

I'm so excited to try this product as it's been raved about! I really hope it works for me and I will definitely be reviewing it if it does :D

Alternate nails are something to do when you have two colours you want to use. One nail this colour, the next the other :) But being me, this still looked too plain and I had to jazz it up a little and make it extra festive, so I added the blue ribbons to turn the red nails into presents!

Make A Wish (Xmas 2011 Lush Magic Wand Review)

I first saw this on Charli's blog (Secrets Behind The Closet Door) who I met at the Aussie-versary party last week. I knew I had to run out and get it as soon as I read "snow fairy" and "bubble bar". Read Charli's post here :)

I love Lush's innovations and I always look forward to this time of year when they bring out Snow Fairy!

A re-usable bubble bar version of snow fairy just combined the two best products of Lush.

"Swish this enchanted Snow Fairy scented wand around your bath again, again and again for lots and lots of candy scented, magic filled bath time bubbles."

When I took this little bathtime treat to the till, the sales girl told me that it lasts about 5-6 baths but I have a feeling that's when you're being indulgent and swirling it around the water for a few minutes. I shall have to test out my theory but Charli showed a picture of hers after 6 baths and it still looked like it had a good half of the bar left!

I actually put the star under my running tap for a few seconds (more like a minute...) and instantly the water turned pink and lovely frothy bubbles appeared!

The bubbles were fluffy and plenty but they did die down quite quickly. Then again, I quite liked that when I got out I didn't have to hose myself down to de-bubble and I don't feel bad leaving a bath full of bubbling glory. Also, the pinky-ness diluted into a slight hint...

My skin was left soft and the scent of the bath smelled like candy floss and just completely relaxed me into a sleepy mood - I'm falling asleep writing this zzZzzZzzZZzZzzzzz...

I love the little bell and pink string that makes it look like a shooting star!

Design 8: Half Moons

I've actually never done a half moon manicure before as I'm not really into the look of them but I thought I start off with muted tones to sort of ease myself in. I quite like this look and might try out different shades next time. I absolutely adore the holographic topcoat!

The Nails Inc Special Effects Nail Polish Electric Lane Holographic Topcoat is definitely my new favourite polish. I think it's going to be pretty hard to beat this now as it is a topcoat so it can transform any nail polish into a holographic dream.

Today I've got a little review on the 2true IncrediLash Mascara.

This Autumn sees the launch of 2true Cosmetic’s hotly anticipated Incredilash mascara with Eyelash Enhancing Complex. This long wear, non smudge mascara is a must-have for any make up bag and perfect for the Christmas party season. Forget expensive lash growth serums or uncomfortable lash inserts, simply apply this purse friendly mascara with ultra lengthening lash technology for natural, volumous lashes in an instant.

It's a cute little mascara that could easily fit into most bags/pockets for on-the-go use or touch-ups at a special occasion. Deffo something you can take on a night out when you like taking makeup with you but you also don't like carrying it in a huge bag!

The brush itself is a spiral of bristles with a convex effect, being widest in the middle of the brush. It's quite dense and the wide centre makes this a thick wand in my books.

I'm not really a fan of the bigger bristled mascaras as I have short lashes that fold into my eyes so it's hard for me to get a larger brush to my lashes without poking myself in the eye.

So from the photos you can see that it has lengthened my eyelashes, but there's only a significant difference after I worked the brush well applying the second coat of mascara onto my lashes.

There are definitely no clumps. That is what this mascara does great! Also, the claims for the long wear, non smudge formula turn out to be true :) It's always great that you know your mascara isn't going to melt and run down your face which I can safely say has been tested in an exercise environment (where I did perspire).

And, for the price point there really is no way you can complain. It's a great stocking filler and for girls who love the natural non-clumpy look, this mascara is perfect!

(This is totally something I would pick up if I was out and forgot to apply mascara - this has happened to me a few times)

Daily Nails Challenge - Design 7

Design 7: Animal Print

I've never done zebra print on my nails before, so I thought this would be the perfect chance! I've done leopard print though and wanted to do that too so I thought I could create a glittery design. Unfortunately, the leopard print design looked really bad in glitter...

But I really liked the how the zebra print turned out so I decided to just keep the other nails a simple silver holographic glitter :)
(It doesn't look that holographic in the flash photos because the flash was too bright!)

Westfield London Collective Clothing Haul!

I went to both London Westfield shopping centres within a few days (both for very short trips) so I did a little collective haul.

Stratford City has Forever 21 so when I met up with some of my best girlfriends, we headed there. One of them spotted this great deal (normal price) of skinny jeans for £8.75 each!!!!

We all scouted out our sizes and they even had 29" lengths and I managed to get two pairs, one in black and the other a medium denim blue.

In White City, I headed to Gilly Hicks. I got some Classic Banded Sweatpants and a Diamond Bay jumper both in burgundy (my new favourite clothes colour).

I adore Gilly's sweatpants. I have some of the Cheeky Butt Boot sweatpants (that have now been discontinued? I posted about them here) and they are so soft and makes you're butt look so good I knew I had to get another pair!

This time I opted for ones which had a band around the ankle because I'm fed up of sweatpants being too long for my short legs! I thought if I have the elastic cuff then they can sit around my ankles and not get in my way.

The jumper is again super soft and is supposed to be fitted, but is actually a little big on me! I thought it would be alright being a small (didn't have time to try on) but glad I checked on the returns policy, as with the receipt you can return anytime!

I also grabbed a cream round neck knitted jumper and a dusty rose lace tank top in H&M :)

Lady and the VAMP! (Sleek MakeUP The Berry Collection)

The Berry Collection from Sleek Makeup is quite wonderful. You get three berry-tastic products boxed in a berry red, making it a lovely gift idea :)

I've had a little play with the lovely products in the set and came up with three different looks that you can create with these products, focusing on each one as the primary statement.

The first look highlights the cheeks! This soft powder blush gives a warm flush to any skintone, as if you've been blown by the cold winter winds outside :) Such a cute look and I've been wearing a light swipe with my normal bronzer to work.

The second look bigs up the eyes. Exploring a very nude and neutral face, you can make the eyes very alluring. Using this Mossberry shade alone is quite stark and daring, so for this look I blended a medium brown into the crease making the eyes pop much better. I also lined my eyes with a black liquid liner to make them bolder!

The third and final look is for the bolder lady. I love this idea where you have very dark, vampy, statement lips! Keeping the rest of the face neutral, the eyes are immediately drawn to the lips, giving you a sultry and seductive pout ;)

It's all about tonight OOTD

So this isn't really an OOTD post, more of an OOTN!

I picked up some lovely items at the 8th Boux Avenue store opening so I thought I'd model them as they are lush.

These are the Casey Check Flannel Pyjama Pants and I love them.

Mr B (Mr Buckles) made a guest appearance!

The perfect bottoms for cosying up on the sofa, we love these flannel PJ pants in a wintry red, white and blue tartan check. So velvety and soft, the classic boyfriend style has feminine touches like frill-trimmed side pockets, a turned-up hem and stylish velvet ribbon tie to the front.

The navy velvet ribbon actually has no purpose. The waist is gently elasticated so you can comfortably pulled these bottoms on without any pressure when you sleep!

For your reference, the strap top I'm wearing is from H&M, but it's folded up so you can clearly see the waistband of the pyjama bottoms.

The slippers are also from Boux Avenue, they're very cute and super fluffy and cosy for my little tootsies. Also, they have air soles so you feel like your bouncing on a cloud every time you take a step :)

Girly Girl Gift Guide! Decembre 2011

'Tis the season and all that, but unlike most people I'm not going to be personally celebrating.

However, I have treated myself to a few things and if I was in the position of receiving presents, this is what I would like to see!

I got this necklace on my travels in Singapore. Just pick something small and elegant that can be worn everyday and into the night! Sterling silver isn't too expensive and suits almost every girl.

There are quite a few on the market. Do a little bit of research to get the best option!

Well, its more a bake book... Look at the amazing yumminess!!! Mine is a mini little one from The Hummingbird Bakery - I totally recommend their red velvet cupcakes!

10. (a little bit special!) Spa Gift Voucher

Whilst money is impersonal, spa vouchers show you cared enough to go to the place to get it. Also, we like being pampered and know what treatments we want!

Neom Organics Review

I was so very excited to try out these products when I was offered so I jumped at the chance! My lovely package popped through the post from Neom Luxury Organics and I ripped that bad boy open. Let me tell you, when they say luxury, they mean luxury!!

After reading the press release, I hinted that I'm a big big fan of lavender and I was sent the Organic Bath Oil and Organic Body Oil both in the Real Luxury fragrance of Lavender, Jasmine & Brazillian Rosewood.

The Real Luxury Organic Bath Oil is quite heavily scented, but not in a bad way! I indulge in lavender but don't forget, the small 1-2 cap-fulls of bath oil gets easily diluted in the water as you pour in this Real Luxury mix. My favourite aspect about this bath oil is that you don't have to be a bath person to use it - now you can turn your shower into a steamy spa treat by applying the same amount to your body before you stand under the running water.

The Real Luxury Organic Body Oil is not the underdog though! I confess that I'm quite bad to the skin on my body... I don't moisturize often and usually if I do, I skip my torso and just apply body lotion to my legs. BUT with this oil, it's so much fun! I'm hoping someone will use this to give me a massage one day... that would be so heavenly. The only thing is that I do have to use about 5-6 pumps to cover my entire body but that just means I'll use it quicker and I'll need to get more sooner and try out the other fragrances :P

I love the little bow on the top of the Bath Oil box!

From the pink carpet...

Last Thursday saw the launch of the 8th Boux Avenue store (opened by the owner, Theo Paphitis!) which was right in my home town of Guildford. I was lucky enough to attend as press to bring you my thoughts from the pink carpet and you can check out my post on the store here :)

I was given a very generous £20 gift card in my goody bag along with some yummy extra delights too!

I received the White Chiffon (Lily, Jasmine, Elderflower) Hand Cream and the Rose Petal Lip Balm, along with some Pink Mix (pink leopard print) Tatiana Brazilian Briefs.

I picked up these Casey Check Flannel Pyjama Pants first! The material is super soft and snuggly, and the pockets are a great addition for when you're lounging around.

I also grabbed some Chunky Knit Pom Pom Mule Slippers to keep my feet cosy as the nights get colder. My tootsies are very snug in the faux fur lining ^__^

MAC Unconditionally Fabulous NOTD

This lovely glittery number is from the MAC Glitter and Ice collection for Winter 2011.

Unconditionally Fabulous Nail Lacquer is a Frost finish and described by MAC as Super sparkle white. At first glance, this sparkle seems rather common, but I actually think it would be quite difficult to find a dupe!

I think this is best used as a topper polish, adding sparkle to any other colour as a base.

I've just applied it over MAC Festive Finery which I've already written a NOTD post for.

(eeek bad tipwear!)

Also, I did two layers over plain nails to show you how it looks.

Not really a fan of it on plain nails, and I think to get it opaque you'd need plenty of coats (at least 5!).

I do LOVE any glitter polish, even with the pain of getting it off after!

Boux Avenue Store Opening!

On Thursday, I met Theo Paphitis at the opening of the 8th store of his newest lingerie line Boux Avenue.

The huge black wardrobe-style doors open up to reveal the contemporary boudoir, dressing room that just invites you in and I was lucky enough to snap some pictures before the official opening - the store is absolutely beautiful and spacious!

On the right side of the store as you enter, you have this seduction corner which triggers the sexier side of you, bringing flirtatious bustiers and corsets with fun petticoats that bring out the black swan ballerina in you, you gorgeous thing!

Then of course we have the sweet babydolls dotted around the shop floor.

The bra size range is quite generous starting from 30A reaching 40H and with the expert fittings offered, as well as magic changing rooms that display three light settings to emulate day, dusk and night you're sure to leave satisfied with beautiful underwear!

The drawers cleverly display products in order of size, and this is a great layout! I know some other great brands that I love that do this (ahem Gilly Hicks *cough*).

But Boux Avenue isn't all lingerie, they also have a cute selection of sleepwear too.

This section is Christmas themed. I really like the checked flannel style pyjama bottoms and the navy blue shorts/hoody with the little reindeer prints on it :)

The sleepwear is quite cute-sy themed (aka novelty wear), but I think that's quite good as they have styles to suit most girls! And yes, they do sell onesies too :P

Boux Avenue don't just sell lingerie and sleepwear! There's lots of little treats you can find in store such as scented candles, cute empty bottles to hold your favourite perfume, little trinket boxes and lotions & potions to give you that sexy feeling!

I did receive a very generous goody bag with plenty to show you so I shall be posting on that shortly :)

Golden Gamma Alternate NOTD

As a goodbye manicure for my sis-in-law (she and my brother left for Asia indefinitely as my brother got a job in Hong Kong), I played with some alternate colours since we didn't have too long before we had to leave for the airport!

Mel chose these colours. Not quite my taste, but work really well against her darker skintone.

I alternated between Illamasqua Gamma and Models Own Golden Green.

So the green shade is from the Models Own Beetlejuice range. I hope you can see the duo-chrome effect from these pictures!

I find bright colours work really well on darker skins. Personally, I prefer the green on Mel though!

Lipsy Lace Bow Headband. #

Lipsy is a brand I'm quite a fan of. I own two Lipsy dresses and always lust after more!

(Don't you love the logo? It has an L and a heart!!!!)

Whilst I was grabbing the Models Own Beetlejuice trio on ASOS, I decided to have a browse at the sale and found this little Lipsy gem for £6 (down from £12) and thought it was super cute and I had to have it!

The colour is ivory, but the floral lace is actually more of a champagne shade with gold shimmery thread running through it.

The bow is definitely over-sized but I love bows in my hair and any size is great! (I'd say the bigger the better, I have some huge bows in my collection but I like the smaller, cuter ones too!) It's a double bow, so it has two layers, with the top one ever so slightly smaller than the other.

Lace was such a big trend when I went to China a few months ago and I got caught up in a lace state of mind where I wanted to buy everything that was lace! Although I've moved away from collecting lace, I still do love grabbing some every now and again :)

I made a video reviewing the Bobbi Brown Oil-Free Even Finish Compact Foundation :)

I would deffo recommend this product for someone with oily or combination skin. It is an oil-free cream-to-powder compact foundation.

For your reference, I am NC25 in MAC and for this foundation I am Beige 3.

MAC Festive Finery NOTD

When I was browsing the new MAC Glitter and Ice collection, I spotted this and my heart did a little jump.

This is Festive Frenzy Nail Lacquer which is a Crème finish. Described by MAC as Dirty midtone greyed violet, it's not a colour that I own, or have quite seen before. (There are a few similar shades in my collection, but this one is a lot darker and more wintery!)

I just think the greyed midtone-ness makes the colour very sophisticated.

It's beautiful and goes with many environments - work, nights out etc!

A neutralized colour which allows your personality to show through, but just at a muted volume.

BOOM Nails at Motel Rocks Event

I got my nails did by the lovely Emma from Boom Nails at the Motel Rocks event last week.

I picked the style of this gorgeous Rosa print and this is what Emma did!

I love the messy style of the print she did! Emma used an Orly base and top coat, and the red is by Models Own. I have to say that the polish is completely red, although the photos show that there is a slight orange twinge.

Unfortunately, she only had time to do three nails (one on my other hand) as there were loads of girls wanting their nails did too, but I still think it looks cool with just a few nails done!

This pattern is gorgeous and I'm going to give it a go myself to see if I can recreate this look. She drew free hand with a nail art pen, using just the needle side.

I don't get how she can draw so well without the polish coming out too thick etc! I guess it just comes with practice :)

I am a big fan of Motel Rocks. I have four dresses in my wardrobe from this gorgeous brand (and a t-shirt with a fun back) and I love the styles they have combined with the pretty patterns they use!

I thoroughly enjoyed being greeted at the door with a selection of drinks and popcorn and candy floss to choose from :) And the balloons!!!!!

Also the mini Lola cupcakes with edible Glossy Box stickers were so cute!

I nabbed a red velvet one - as if my sweet tooth wasn't satisfied by the candy floss!

They also had Emma from Boom Nails painting gorgeous nail art and I did get mine done :) But that deserves a post on its own so that will be coming up soon!

The new 2011 Christmas Party collection does not disappoint! When I think of Motel, it's always dresses that come to mind so I was pleased to see other items in this winter collection with cute shorts, skinny trousers and tops.

I picked a few of my favourite pieces to show you, although my photographic quality might not be so good since there was a mass of bloggers at the viewing event and it was a mission to even get a look at the clothes!

These tube body-con dresses add a perfect glitter bust detail to not over dazzle anyone but still making you shine! I am loving the red one :)

This crackle pattern is so edgy and sits great with the shots of teal through it! Reminds me of crackle nail polish, don't ya think?

Another body-con tube dress, but with blocks of colour in just the right places to trick the eye into making you look skinnier! Who doesn't want that? Also, purple is awesome.

I love this print! It's NYC!!!!! This halter dress with a button down front keeps it casual for day, but the halter neckline jazzes it up with some black and gold accessories for night time.

I think these teal skinnies are awesome. Not something I would wear, but something I definitely want to own! Teal is a dreamy colour and these would be perfect with a white t-shirt and black blazer :)

This body-con dress in the NYC print is something I might have to get at some point. Don't you love the back? It's so sexyyy!

Models Own Beetlejuice Trio.

There has been a big hype around these nail polishes. I saw someone posted that they were lusting after this little trio, and I thought I just click the link to check the price. To my astonishment, it was quite a bit cheaper than I thought and with a 33% discount (exclusive to ASOS, bringing the price to £10 for 3!) I thought I'd make a cheeky purchase!

When I first saw them in the flesh, I was surprised at how much I loved only one of them. Two of them aren't really my colour but with "each consisting of four pearlescent tones mixed into one shade with shimmer to create a chrome-like finish" I thought that I would love them all!

The studio pictures are a little misleading as only in perfect light will all four tones show up :(

I thought Emerald Black would be Barry M's Petrol Black Dazzle Dust but in nail polish form so I was quite excited this was in the trio and as that's what it looks like in the studio picture! Unfortunately, this is not the case. I was hoping for a more teal-y blue shimmer in the polish and I have to say I am quite disappointed as after two layers on the nail, it just looks like black polish most of the time. Only under bright light do you see the hint of emerald green, but it does look quite stunning under the right lighting!

Golden Green is something I wouldn't ever go for, but looking at the bottle you'd think it'd be a fun shade that could be used for nail art if you're not a fan of the colour. Again, this isn't the case on my nails. It looked really good on my sis-in-law who has a darker complexion than me. I am not a fan but great for those of you who are darker or really like green!

My favourite is definitely Pinky Brown. You can see shiny flecks all through the polish on the nail, just like in the bottle and probably the one that looks mostly duo-toned out of the three. This is the best part of the trio and I can already see different fun nail designs I can do with this shade :)

These are actually my first Models Own products and I am pleasantly surprised at the wonderful formulae of each polish (apart from the shades)! They applied smoothly and dried reasonably fast which is what you want a polish to do. And after MAC Glitter and Ice, I am loving the white lids of the bottles and I hope they bring out new shades that I'm going to love!

Just as a side note, ASOS is awesome sometimes.

I opted for the super saver delivery (the free one) so as to spend as little as possible. Also, I didn't mind waiting a while, estimated delivery by a week's time and thought it'd come as a bit of a surprise after I'd forgotten about purchasing.

Actually, I got my dispatched email the very next day. I thought it still might take a while to get to me, but it took a day! So without paying any delivery charge, my order came through within two days of purchase! That is a BIG winner!!! Well done, ASOS.

So Thursday evening, I skipped along to the Motel Rocks event in their wonderful showroom just behind Oxford Street.

I was debating what dress to wear, but I finally settled on a Motel Rocks dress that I got recently. Why not wear Motel to Motel. eh?

I actually bought this online in the sale on ASOS and didn't realize the panel in the middle that goes all the way around is actually see-through but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the package! I like the way it breaks up the outfit, like adding a belt but it's already in-built to the dress :P

Blue diagonal glitter tips NOTD

Following on with the glitter tips theme, I create this design which brings about a little twist to the normal style of a french manicure.

Step 1: Paint the base colo.

This colour is OPI A Grape Fit! and as it's only a base colour, I applied one thin coat to each nail.

Step 2: Build up colour using a sheer shade.

This is OPI Significant Other Color which adds a touch of iridescent sparkle to the nails.

Step 3: Paint on the diagonal tips.

I chose a pearlescent blue as a base for the tips. Just using the brush in the nail polish, I swiped on the blue shade.

Step 4: Add glitter!!!

Using a striper, I drew lines with blue glitter to separate the two colours and add definition.

I think this look is rather snazzy and you could stop here if you like :) Just add a top coat and you're good to go!

Step 5: Add on some more glittery lines.

Carrying on with the blue glitter striper, leave a gap and then draw on more diagonal lines across the blue tip.

This makes the glitter tip more unusual and not overly sparkly. Also you can see the lovely blue colour underneath!

Step 6: Apply a top coat.

To prevent chipping and to seal in the design, I applied one layer of 17 Double Gloss Top Coat.

And we're done!!
