Pink Diamonds NOTD (Birthday Nails!)

My birthday nails and dress :)

This nail design was inspired by two of my favourite things - pink/purple nail polish and glitter! So I decided to call this design 'pink diamonds'.

After my initial base coats of OPI Nail Envy and OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, I wanted to create a cute french manicure that wasn't traditional white.

I used two layers of OPI DS Passion on the tips and applied OPI I Lily Love You onto the rest of my nails. I finished off with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

I built my bed!!

As I am writing to you now, I'm sitting on my new double bed - which I made, all by myself!
(with a little help from Ikea)

It started out its life in flat pack boxes.

4 boxes to be exact, 2 slatted bed base pieces, a galvanized beam and a mattress.

I decided the best place to start is the headboard - it has storage in the sides!

So I ripped the first box open and began.

The first frame section was easy enough!

Then I had to build up the hidden storage compartments.

Put them together!

Yay! It fits :D
(that plank is holding it to the wall so it doesn't fall over - it's the top of the headboard which forms a shelf)

Time for the actual bed now...

Starting with the internal frame - better get this right or the bed might just collapse in the middle of the night!

Now building up the outside frame.

And then the reinforced metal frame - for the times I want to jump on my bed!

Lay the slatted bed base across the top and secure in place :)

Make the 4 drawers and slide into gap for storage!

Push the bed up against the headboard and fix the headboard shelf plank on top.

And finished with the hard work! My dolphin lamp adds a nice touch, right?

Et voila! Mattress, duvet and pillows :D

For references, these are the three items I got:
Brimnes Bed frame w storage+slatted bedbase, white
Brimnes Headboard with storage compartment, white
Sultan Hagavik Active Pocket Sprung Mattress

I would advise you to visit a store to try out all the different mattresses to find the one that suits you the best.

Have you ever bought any furniture that you assembled from Ikea??

Love love and bedlove!!

Come to Poppy/I Lily Love You NOTD

When you think of poppies, you think red - or at least I do!

However, OPI Come to Poppy is an orange-toned pink with a pearlescent undertone.

I wanted to have pink tips, showcasing Come to Poppy and make my nails look like they were done with gel polish so I created this design. I've got a step-by-step guide below so you can re-create it on your own nails :)

Step 1: Base coat

Always a wise thing to protect your nails before painting colour onto them - especially dark/bright colours!

Step 2: Side swipe tips

Using the brush of the polish paint the tips of the nails. Then swipe a little down on one side of the nails - I usually swipe down towards the pinky finger so each hand is opposite.

Step 3: Black outline

For this step, I used a striper polish in black to draw the outline of the tip. It really helps to define the two areas although this is optional. Also, you can do it after the next step if you want.

Step 4: Layer glitter polish

I Lily Love You by OPI is a sheer pink polish with lots of pink glittery flakes. I layered about 3-4 coats of this polish to get this thick, strong look. I then added two layers of a top coat to make it even thicker.

And this is the result!

Have you got the Nice Stems collection by OPI?

Play the Peonies NOTD

This light shade is a pale pearlescent pink that gives a twist to the neutral look.

However, the polish is rather sheer - even with two coats you can still see where my nail tips start.

Definitely something to wear at the office and I think the pale cool shade works best with lighter skin tones but it would look great on short or longer nails.

I didn't like how plain it looked without some embellishment and the fact that you could see when my nail tips started, so I used a nail art pen in red to just experiment with some fun designs.

Which nail is your favourite? The thumb is mine!

Love love and peonieslove!!
