Sunday Times - Edition #4

WARNING: Since I have not posted in a week (*shock shock horror horror*), this is will be very long!! You can skip the reading and just look at my many pretty pictures if you like instead XD!!

Been a little busy bee this weekend!! Well, not today but my room is in a state and needed much tidying. I shall hopefully get it done and do a fun room tour this week! I'm moving back to uni on next Saturday and I'm so dreading going back! It'll be nice to escape the parents though :P

There is much to update so I shall just get stuck in!!

In regards to Chlorella, I have done a quick update video (below). However, I kinda haven't taken any since that day... bad Ling!! So I shall get back on track starting tomorrow ^^



I have yet to find time to use my new hair straightener that I got from Aussie, but I used the shampoo and conditioner last night! They are both great products and I loved how much the shampoo foamed up! Haha I love bubbles :D The smell however, isn't as amazing as I hoped it'd be. It is pleasant, but I think I prefer my Herbal Essences scents.

Onto more exciting things... if you guys are into reading UK beauty blogs, you'll have probably known there was another blogger event held on Thursday. This time it was for Maybelline New York which was at the L'Oreal Paris HQ in Hammersmith! What a great time I had and I will be making a video about it sometime this week. I have many pictures to show you and an immense amount of goodies from two (that's right, we all got two) bags!!

The event was mainly to promote their two newest products in stores: Pulse Perfecting Mascara and the Color Sensational Lipsticks! These have been available for a little while now, so you may have seen them around. (in our little bag, we got a full-size mascara in Vibrant Black and 6 lipsticks in 112 Ambr Rose, 165 Pink Hurricane, 315 Rich Plum, 338 Midnight Plum, 420 Coral Pop and 730 Golden Brown!)

The Pulse Perfecting Mascara is the first vibrating mascara that's available to the mass market, as the other vibrating mascaras currently available are from brands such as Lancome, Prescriptives and Estee Lauder which are at the higher end of the market. With Maybelline's mascara, it uses "horizontal micro movements", mimicking what you normally do when you wiggle the wand but much tinier! It gives 7000 vibrations a minute and it has the Define-A-Lash brush which many of us adore! It's battery powered which is great, but I fear that when people throw away their mascara, they will forget to remove the battery to dispose of in a safe way. The battery used is a tiny watch battery which could potentially be changed if it runs out before your mascara does, however, watch batteries can last up to three years, if they're good!! (My father owns/runs a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks) I'm very excited to try this out but I don't want to open it just yet as I have soooo many mascaras already open :(

The Color Sensational Lipsticks are fantastic! IT gives you that great "crisp, high-definition colour" and a "gorgeous, creamy feel" too. There are 26 shades in this range split into 4 colour families: pinks, plums, reds and browns.

The formula contains pigment technology that gives depth to the colour enabling it to cover the full lips with an outstanding colour. The colours is enhanced by specific polymers that bring out the true colour. As the pigments are finely milled, they are highly and evenly distributed on the lips, providing a smooth and even colour effect that is never dull or flat. The pigments are combined with indulgent honey-nectar, which helps the lipcolour glide onto lips, without being sticky, as well as heping to nourish them, giving lips a gorgeous creamy feel.

I managed to nab a few more lipsticks in different colours :P Here is the full set I got!!

The other goody bag was packed full of their well-known products!! I loved the fact that they had a stand specifically for foundations so people could pick and choose the one that suited their skintone the best!!

After I left work on Friday, I got a tube to my brother's flat in Woolwich and we set off to my cousin's 19th birthday party!! So I have an OOTD and a LOTD/FOTD!

I didn't have a long time to do my make-up so I just used classic purples to bring out the browns in my eyes and to counter the mass amount of teal I was wearing :P Didn't have any time to do hair so I just Batisted the crap out it using my handy travel size Blush one!

My brother's flat is on the 12th floor looking out to the Thames river and I had to take some shots to show you!!


My room was so nice too and my double bed felt like I was sleeping on a cloud *content smiley*


I have quite a big David&Goliath haul to show you soon (will film it this week) and I wore one of my new t-shirts :P I love the play-on-words and I tried to take a picture of the shirt in the mirror, only to realise it would be backwards XD

But here it is normally! (Brother said the only fish and chips shop in New York is called A Salt and Battery! ~ fun fact of the day ~ although I didn't quite get it at first... battery being battered fish YUMMM)
And here is my full outfit, completing my casual, public transport travel look with my slim fit Levi's (and odd Hello Kitty socks)

After spending the night at my brother's, we went to Woolwich town centre and did a little shopping ^^ Grabbed an ice-cream as it was so very hot that day :P So this is me and my sister-in-law, Melissa! (I am trying to convince her to start making videos and I think she is going to guest star on my channel with some reviews ^^)

Sunday Times - Edition #3 (Project Angel - Aussie Event)

Afternoon, sweets :D

I love Sundays because Sunday is my lazy day. Work has been very tiring lately and I haven't had time to watch many vids or read up on blogposts so I would've happily stayed in my pyjamas all day and mostly in bed! (Obviously I would still have written this ^^) But because I love you guys and because this needs a video before I forget about it, I have filmed a video about my day yesterday!



Most of you may be wondering what was so good that happened yesterday, so I'll tell you! I was invited on a treasure hunt by Aussie (hair care company) in Central London. I was a bit worried a couple of days before which maybe you have heard about if you are following me on Twitter :) The first clue was sent to my house along with a key via Next Day Special Delivery on Thursday. It got to my house on Friday, but my parents and I were at work all day so I was left one of those Royal Mail Collection cards stating to wait 24 hours before collecting from the local post office. So stuck with not being able to get my key, I wasn't too sure what to do. Luckily, Sabrina (sabrinalovesyoux and a-littleobsessed) came to my rescue!! We arranged to meet up and go together. Two heads are better than one, and she already knew the answer to the first clue! Great, I thought! So with an email to Lauren (from Aussie) about my plans to meet up with Sabrina and a reply saying that was fine, I managed to sleep soundly.

Since I'm not staying in London atm, I grabbed a lift with my father on his way to work in North London. But that meant getting up pretty early (at 7.15am) as we had to drop off my mother who starts work at 8am. We rushed to the post office and hoped that they'd have the letter (as it was before 8am and the card said 9.45am) but all was fine and I finally got my hands on the little purple envelope. Carefully I opened it in the car and was taking pictures with and of it for this very blog but we were rushing to get mother to work on time so the car was jerky and the key fell off my lap and down the side! Oh no!!! Almost lost the key, but luckily grabbed it when we reached the hospital (mother is a operating theatre sister nurse) and quickly fit it to my other keys just to make sure I wouldn't lose it again!


So after we left mother, I had plenty of time to kill as I wasn't meeting Sabrina till 11am. Father owns his own shop (selling and repairing watches and clocks etc) and so he didn't have to go in at a set time as his employee would open up the store. Off we went to the car auction house to have a look around! A boring experience but an experience nonetheless. None of the cars took my father's fancy (we currently only have one car ~ mother's car, that's why we all have to go together ~ as father's car is broked :P) so we left. Father decided the best place to drop me would be at Brent Cross tube station, but we missed the turning the first time so made a U-turn and took the correct turning off the road. But then, father took the wrong exit at the round-a-bout!! Haha XD We ended up at Henden and I got the Northern Line tube from Henden Central straight to Charing Cross, where I met Sabrina.

So the first clue said:

"The Home (and) away from home for all things Australian, just a hop from The Strand..."

I love the fact they used an Australian way of making the clue and hoped that the next clue wasn't going to be this hard!! Sabrina had already worked out the answer to this, being the Australian House (Australian Embassy). We headed off to Trafalgar Square and were looking around the flags to find it! We had to ask several people and wander around for about half an hour...

We finally made our way there to find Tim standing there with two huge silver padlocked treasure chests! He informed us that we were the first ones there and gave us our prizes!!


Because we were the first, we both received an extra gift! This is the Wella Professionals Pro-Straight Shine hair straightening iron! It's got adjustable heat settings so I'll be able to experiment with that :)


Then Sabrina and I went to Cafe Nero across the street to chat and open up the boxes! I had a White Chocolate Mocha (the only coffee I drink) topped with cream, of course! YUM!!!


Discovering the Topshop gift cards, we headed to Oxford Street to find out how much was on them (£25!) and then we parted ways and I took a tube to Marble Arch to visit Superdrug. I was hoping the offer for the free (if you spend £6 on Barry M) Limited Edition Dazzle Dust was still on but it wasn't. However they had a buy-pne-get-one-half-price on all Dazzle Dusts and they had two Limited Edition ones so I got both of those! Also picked-up a Barry M Intense Black Eyeliner Pen ^^


Stopped by NYC cosmetics to check out the nail polishes as I've heard great things about them and choose Manhattan, a gorgeous plummy red ~ perfect for autumn/winter, to try! Also grabbed a mini Burberry Weekend Eau De Parfum and some cute bow earrings for 99p!



Went to Claire's to check out their cute Hello Kitty stuff and ended up with a Hello Kitty Pez Dispenser, 10 sticks of Pez (in lemon, orange, cherry, and strawberry) and two stickers too!!

I found my way to H&M on Regent Street and purchased a Hello Kitty mini nail set. With a file/smooth/buff/shine stick, a cuticle pusher and a little pink nail clipper!!


Then I walked to Lush and spend what must've been over an hour just smelling and talking about and testing out the products! The girls in there are super helpful (I wasn't allowed to film) and really helped cater to me and really knew what they were talking about. So I picked two Bubble Bars (The Comforter and French Kiss) and Grease Lightning (spot treatment). I was given two samples ~ Aqua Marina (camomile and seaweed solid cleanser) and Vanishing Cream (moisturiser).


I was a bit peckish as it was now around 3pm so after receiving a voucher, I headed over to McDonald's (bad Ling!) and grabbed a McChicken Sandwich. In a bid to keep healthier, I got tap water to drink and barely touched my fries...


My friends Chi and Kin picked me up and we drove around for ages looking for parking. Let me tell you something, it is SO expensive to park in London!! We found a space for £3.30 an hour (yes, an HOUR!) on St. James Square and went to London Trocadero to the arcade. I watched them play some car racing game and filmed it XD (video is not yet here ~ but its a little boring, even with commentary by me and may not be allowed to be put up D: )

Then our hour was up and they drove me to Oxford Street to my Uncle's shop ~ Superbabe ^_^ Its like a boutique-y shop selling women's clothes, shoes and bags too! Very cute stuff :) My father met me there (this is around 6.30pm) and we chatted with my Uncle for a while and then headed to China Town for dinner!! Forgot to take my camera, but I had crispy noodles with roast pork! It was so good as I was so hungry as it was now around 8pm! After dinner we grabbed some cakes from the Chinese cake store and drove back to pick up my mother (she worked until 9pm). Then we went home! Wow such a tiring day...

My First Blog Award!!

First of all, thank you to Nic (at Anything-Floral) who tagged me for this "I think you are an awesome girl" award :D


And for me to be eligible to receive this, I have to give you 10 random facts about me ^_~

Now, I actually have a video on this already, which you can watch below :P



But its been a long time since then and there are more than just 10 random facts about me so here's another 10!!

1. All the pet names I have for my electronics end in 'ly' ~ Molly (my trusty Dell laptop), Jelly (my cute LG Cookie mobile phone) etc! (I actually don't have one for my camera since there is no reason to name it...)

2. I love the shape of butterflies!! (hence my blog background) I think they are just so pretty! I have so many butterfly things in my room, (countless earrings decorations, pictures, paintings) and they're at their most beautiful when you see them IRL flying around you :)

3. (is the magic number :P) In my parents house, we have 4 fish tanks and a pond!! We have so many fishes XD My parents have owned fish since before I was born! And when we moved house, we moved our fish with us and my dad had to build the pond for them. However, in the end they died from chemical poisoning from these stones (which had been treated to make them white) in the water fountain. :( Sad times...

4. Even though in Cantonese Chinese, it means death, 4 is my favourite number! I love the shape of it and they ways it can be written... wow I sound so excited over a number XD

5. One of my favourite movies is Mary Poppins! (But I didn't enjoy the musical as much...)

6. I think Michael McIntyre's humour is HILARIOUS!! I'm always up for a good laugh and this guy seriously gets me everytime! (I also love panel shows ~ Mock The Week, QI, Would I Lie To You?)

7. I can't take food with any spice in it! I'm pretty fussy too... here are some things I don't eat ~ curry, pepper, mushrooms, beef (except in a really good lasagne), chilli, peppers, asparagus, leeks, garlic, ginger, prawns if they have heads on them...

8. I watched Mean Girls 8 times in a row once. I was on a plane to Malaysia I believe and the journey is super long! They didn't have anything else I wanted to watch so I just let it repeat over and over... They had to change some of the words for any younger flyers watching, so "witch" was popular :P I can now almost quote everything from the movie!!

9. I have a very sweet tooth. I think the Caramel Hot Cholocate at Starbucks isn't sweet enough. I can't taste any caramel and once I put in an extra three brown sugars... Whenever I order a Caramel Creme Frappucino, I always have to ask for extra caramel :P

10. I wish I had better sense of style and fashion... (I don't think this is actually a fact... ermmm I can't think of anything else that interesting... ermmm I have a collection of origami paper stars?)

I have to say though, these pictures really do not give the divine colours enough justice!! They are nicely pigmented and a sheen is seen with almost an iridescence to the shades!


But today's star is not the eye shadows themselves, but the cutest little 213SE brush that comes with the palette!!

It picks up colour like nobody's business and I looooooove this!! And just to give you all an idea of the tiny size, here it is next to my little fingernail :)
