Today, I am going to review the Sean Hanna hair salon in Putney.
This will be my first review of this kind, but I had a great experience and I wanted to let you know about it :)
This is the beautiful, clean, spacious reception that I was greeted in.
After checking my appointment, I was taken to one of the chairs further in the salon. The receptionist guy very helpfully took my coat and scarf, gave me a cloakroom tag and what looked like an open menu!
On closer inspection, the "menu" showed a list of complimentary refreshments (including fruit juices, different fancy coffees - like vanilla lattes - and other delightful drinks). The next few pages showed different selections of Tigi hair colourings and Kerastase treatments. The back page read the DVD offerings for your enjoyment! I thought this was a very innovative idea but you wouldn't be able to watch the whole movie if you were only getting a cut (which is about an hour or so). However they only had the older movies that you've probably seen already including The Incredibles, Finding Nemo and The Devil Wears Prada.
After a few moments, my stylist came over for my consultation. She was very thorough with finding out what my normal hair routine was, what I used, how I styled it, what I wanted my hair to look like, how I wanted it dried today, everything!
After this discussion, I felt very happy to leave my hair in her hands.
Then, a trainee colourist came over and helped me put on a waterproof robe to protect my clothing, asked me about my beverage choice (hot chocolate because they were out of vanilla lattes) and I was led over to the hair washing basins.
The domes were all lit like a rainbow (pictured below) and it was very inviting.
The domes actually surround your head and gradually change colour, calming you. There are also speakers in the sides of the domes trickling out gentle tunes to lull you into relaxation. If that wasn't enough, the chairs are controlled by the staff and recline into almost lying down position, and they easily massage and knead away any tension left in your body.
The hair washing was a very pleasant experience. I was told exactly what was happening (1st shampoo, 2nd shampoo etc) and she was very tentative with the water temperature.
I was taken back to one of the chairs and out came my AMAZING complimentary hot chocolate, along with a little biccy and some sugar (which I did not need!).
Then, I had my cut and everything was great! I didn't feel uncomfortable and my stylist was talking to me throughout so I knew exactly what she was doing. It's so reassuring for someone who hates parting with hair!
I loved how they placed the products they used on the tray in front of me.
The shampoo smelled absolutely divine and is something I would like to pick up next! They used a moisture shampoo for my hair, but the stylist didn't think my hair was dry. She knew I blew-dry it a lot so that was probably the reason.
Before any blades had even touched my hair, she ran some Moroccan Oil through my tresses to keep it soft and shiny!
Everything was excellent from start to finish and I felt very valued and skipped down the street home :P
