Sunday Times - Edition #2

Welcome to the second edition of Sunday Times :)

Argh! This post is very late... >.< Sorry!! But I have been posting quite a lot recently :P I hope that makes up for my lateness *cheeky hopeful grin*

So there isn't too much to update you on. We had my cousins and family over for a BBQ so I haven't really had much time on the internet *shock horror* We watched a few films too via Film4 on Freeview ~ Around The World in 80 Days, Ever After and half of The Day After Tomorrow!

Anyway, onto more beauty related things...

Cousin brought me a little something from his travels to Hong Kong!!

The inside of the bag is HOT PINK!! How awesome is that?? I love packaging that is lined :P

However, inside the bag is a better treat!! My new toner ~ Laneige Pore Trouble Skin Refiner

It's a nice big 160ml bottle full of goodness which couldn't have come at a better time as my current Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner (right) is almost empty!!

(btw, they are the same size)

And just one other thing I thought I'd mention is The Body Shop Eye Trio in 02 Sundown Glow from the Precious Pearlescents collection!!

I am loving this very neutral eyeshadow trio and I know it would suit any one!! Its so handy having all three colours in one place and being able to chuck it in your bag for on-the-go use!

In particular, I love the coppery brown. It really reminds me of MAC Eyeshadow in Honey Lust! Take a closer look ^^

I've also heard the darkest brown shade looks a bit like Satin Taupe and I wouldn't be surprised if the lightest shade is similar to All That Glitters!! The Body Shop have really done themselves proud with this awesome trio dupe! The only downside is that because this collection is pearlescent, it has a certain sheen and almost a shimmer to the shadow. I know many girls love their matte shadows so this probably isn't one for you matte ladies, but it'd be a great introduction to more shimmery shadows as these are neutral so will only give a glisten to the eye and not draw too much attention :) It'd also be great for a girl just starting out with make-up, as you get three great shades in one!

I hope that helps anyone looking into getting any neutrals!!

Colourful French Manicured Nails!!

Hehe take a look at what I did with my nails today!!

(at this point of the day, I was still very hyper XD)

I thought since summer is almost over, I better go out with a bang and lots of colours!! So here I am using the three bright polishes I bought from O.P.I.'s Paige Denim Collection :)

Products used:
O.P.I. Nail Lacquer in Shorts Story
O.P.I. Nail Lacquer in A Grape Fit!
O.P.I. Nail Lacquer in No Room For The Blues
17 Double Gloss Top Coat

I love this combination and was thinking about adding dots too but then it seems like it'll be a bit too much :P So for now, just this! Maybe I'll add some glitter in a few days :P

(right hand)

(left hand)

The family is having a BBQ tomorrow so expect footage :) And also, on my website I have a new vlog up!! A very very very hyper Ling... maybe the Chlorella is really making me crazy!

Love love and naillove!

P.S. Kinda in love with Adam Young, aka Owl City and his music!!!

This song in particular called West Coast Friendship ^_~
(the lyrics are totally random, but I love it anyway!)

Chlorella - Day 1

I am not expecting results over night but I wanted to make a series of my journey with Chlorella, at least for the first month! So here's a short video vlog of Day 1:

I need a hair cut... and inner beauty health!

I know when I need a hair cut when I can do this:

Hehe!! So what do you think of my full fringe/bangs?? I think I'm just gonna stick to the side-swept thing for now :) I used to have a straight cut fringe when I was a lot younger but grew them out as soon as I knew what I was doing XD

(in the garden after a ballet class ^^)

(just about to go into a ballet exam :P)

Anyway, my layers have grown out and I not feeling like I can do all that much with my hair atm apart from straight or curly and nothing too ambitious :( But that's okay!

Onto today's news...
I received a little packet in the post today ^^ Okay, so since I read Vicky's blogpost about Chlorella, a 'new' superfood, I've been really intriged and wanted to find out more! So I set about doing a little research online about this green-algae etc. (The fact that it's an algae kinda puts me off because we have a pond which harbours algae and it smells bad lol!) Now a couple of weeks later, a company selling Chlorella contacted me (finding me via Twitter and messaging me through my website)! The guy really did his research about me :P So he offered to send me a month's supply (500 tablet, 100g net) of Chlorella which arrived today!

Chlorella claims to be "the richest natural source of chlorophyll and an excellent source of iron (which is an added plus for me as I'm a little bit anaemic), folic acid, B12, lutein and essentail amino and fatty acids. " So here's a product I can finally talk about in regards to helping with your beauty on the inside!

(and this is what the little tablets look like ~ bare in mind, I have quite small hands!)

The only downside I see so far is that the recommended daily intake is 15-40 tablets ~ WTF?? Doesn't that sound a bit excessive to you?? I think taking one or two tablets a day should be enough, but 40?? That's kinda crazy. But I am willing to try it as I want to see how it works out for me! So starting tomorrow with 5 tablets (the packet says start with 5 and build up to the 15-40), I will try out this product till all the tablets are gone. (Oh and btw 500 divided by 15 is just over 33 ~ so should definately last you an entire month unless you take 40)

If you are as intriged as I am about Chlorella, you can visit Yaeyama Chlorella online (yes, it is a Japanese brand) here :D

Enjoy your bank holiday weekends!!! (Unless you don't have one, in which case enjoy your regular weekend!)

Shine On, Girls!

What do you do when you have a product from a few years ago that you've rediscovered you really love but that the company doesn't make it anymore??

This product ~ Charles Worthington London Results Take Aways Shine On ~ is an "instant makeover super-shine blow-dry spray" which "helps to give instant volume and bounce". I got this in a gift set I received one Christmas, at least 4 years ago and to my dismay, this exact product doesn't seem to exist anymore :( sad times!

(my manicure is still in tact with no chips! tiny bit of fading but barely noticable)

I actually only started using it again because it smells quite nice and I wanted to finish up the bottle to get rid of it but having used it after every hair wash, I am finding that I'm getting complimented (IRL by friends and comments on my videos too) on how shiney my hair is! And by process of elimination (not having changed anything from my hair care routine apart from adding this in), this is the product that is making it shine ^^ To be completely honest, I don't really notice much of a difference. But seeing as it feels and smells nice and seems to be noticed by everyone around me, I think its worth it! (Too bad its not available anymore and I shall now have to think up a new POTW for tomorrow...)

Well, I scoured all the current Charles Worthington London range to find anything similar that resembles it and may have replaced it! I found this on the Boots website. Not sure if its the same thing just with a new name and packaging, but its something I will definately be picking up when my 1/7 of the travel-size 75ml bottle is all gone! It is the only blow-dry spray currently in the range at Boots atm and it does say that, like all Charles Worthington products, it has "glossing shine boosting properties" which sounds VERY promising :) However, it has been marketed as a style control spray and I think I shall have to think about whether I really need it whilst I'm still low on the cash front...

Onto other things, today I was going to make a video but decided against it after feeling miserable and ill after the constant changing weather doing my head in and also the fact that my hair needs a gooooood wash (which it shall get as soon as I've finished this). So instead of wasting the day doing nothing beauty productive, I decided to play around with my false lashes to make sure I still remembered how to put them on so they would stay and look great! It started off badly with many attempts and sticking it far too high on my eyelid and the glue not sticking (a problem I've had before, after leaving the glue to dry too long before applying them) but I finally cracked it!! Don't think I'll be making my tutorial application video just yet, but I am going to try applying them over the next few days and get my practice hat on so I don't embarrass myself on camera XD

With no foundation or face make-up, I did a very neutral and quick look using The Body Shop Eye Trio in 02 Sundown Glow and MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack. These are Eylure Girls Aloud Lashes in Nicola and I adore these. The best shaped lashes I've ever seen/used (which actually isn't that many lol)!! And even after 4 uses, they still look amazing! (I do hope you agree ^_^) The great thing about Eylure is that they always come with a tiny tube glue that you can carry with you incase of lash emergencies! And it seems to be a pretty great glue! My lashes have stuck very well, apart from the first few times I used them when I really didn't know what I was doing and only had the paper instructions and the videos on YouTube. They come off very nicely too and doesn't hurt when you peel them. They definately lasted me a whole night out and you can't feel them!! I would and have recommended these! In fact, they were once my POTW :D

I hope you're all having a great week!

Love love and shinelove!

Laneige Make Up Mist Gift Set

Whenever I think I need a new skincare product, I have to go straight to Laneige (at facial-shop.com) and check out whether they have one, which is exactly what I did when I found out that dehydrated skin can be controlled using a hydrating serum ~ a reason why I chose to obtain a sample of The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum, which I will definately be purchasing that if the Laneige one doesn't suit me. Anywho, I ordered a Laneige gift set with a sample size of the Hydro Solution Activator and it came this morning from Hong Kong. One thing I love about facial-shop.com is that they have no postage charge!! The only problem is that you have to wait a while for delivery...

So this is the Laneige Make Up Mist #3 Orchid Gift Set which contains 4 items. (Unfortunately, I don't think it's available anymore as I can't seem to find it on the website)

The first being a full-sized 80 delicious millilitres of the Laneige Make Up Mist in #3 Orchid. No surprise there! It's a little like Fix+ from MAC but very much like a spray water which can be used before or after make-up. I've always wanted to try this but never had any intention to purchase it as I didn't think I really needed it but this was the only gift set which had the serum I wanted so I've got two birds with one stone there :) I've been spraying it all morning and now I'm slightly worried that I'm going to run out of it XD

And then we have two 5ml samples of the Laneige Hydra Solution Activator which smells very much like other Laneige products ~ clean and fresh! It looks like something that might just save my skin!

Next is a cute 10ml bottle of the Laneige Hydra Solution Cream which is just an added bonus for me as well as the two droplet samples of the Laneige Hydra Solution Essence. I wasn't quite sure what this was at first as there is no English on this packet and there isn't even an amount! Which tells me its probably a bit less than 5ml.

Laneige Snow Water also known as Himalaya glacial water melted from clear perpetual snow of the Himalaya Mountains provides continuous moisture. Vital intensifying system through Laneige Snow Water Science technology offers moisturizing solution whcih effectively provides hydra-energy deeply into your skin to keep your skin more clear and transparent.

Laneige is definately something to check out, however it is tailored towards those with Asian skin, coming from Korea. However, I think it would work for all skin. Generally, I find that Asian skin is more delicate than others but because of this fact, Laneige is very gentle and seems to be very pure with almost every Laneige product containing water. Its rather difficult to find in the UK though and the only way I know how to get it is via online shopping or physically travelling for it (or asking others who are travelling to get it for me :P) so I think its best for everyone to first sample the products that they would like to purchase or maybe swap for them instead, as they can be pretty pricey ^^

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Love love and Laneigelove!

New wave of hair?

Yes, the addiction continues...

But I finally built up the courage to take down my hair from its French plaitted/braided state and thought I should share the results :D

So when I first took it out, it was very poufy XD I felt like I had a lion's mane but the volume was very fun! I think my hair just expands with any sort of curve in it!

But now I've toned it down slightly, taming the fly-away frizzy bits and smoothing the hair a little too :) Its still rather bushy but here's the result!

It's probably not a style I'd leave the house with on a day-to-day basis (maybe for some fancy dress looks though ;P) because I think the volume is just too much for me and almost overpowers me. To dilute the volume, I would tie it into a half-up/half-down style or pull it into pigtails. But I love experimenting and I'm glad I did it!

However, if you want to know how I achieved this mega volume lion hair, well I'll tell you!! I only used two products: V05 Styling Spray Heat Protect Create and Xtah Sebastian Crude Clay ^^

First, I split my hair in half (this is so that after its done, my actual parting doesn't have odd flat bits), spritzed it all over with the V05 Styling Spray until it was pretty damp and French plaitted each half all the way down. Once they were both secured with a hairtie, I gave the plaits another spritz with the styling spray. I grabbed both ends and twisted them together into a bun which I also secured with another hairtie. Every hour or so before I slept, I spritzed my hair all over again (about another 2-3 times). Then the hair should be set into crimped waves :) After removing the hairties and gently parting the hair, undo-ing the plaits, I flipped my hair back to its original parting. I then just emulsified some clay in my hands and then gently ran the clay onto my hair, smoothing it all over especially at the ends!!

You can just use damp hair from water instead of the styling spray but I find this hold a better curvature! Also, if you can't sleep with damp hair and can't wait for the spray/water to naturally dry, run a blow-dryer over the plaits and this will help mould the hair aswell. Enjoy your overnight waves :)

Love love and wavylove!

Sunday Times - Edition #1

As a bid to make sure I keep up with this blog, I have started a feature called "Sunday Times" (how original!) Its partly because the newspaper is awesome but mainly because I always say "______ times" ~ happy times, sad times, good times, fun times etc! So today is Edition #1 and I shall try to write something at least every Sunday when I usually have a little time on my hands with no classes/extra cirricular activies :)

I actually wanted to write another post yesterday but I think two was enough. (Can't believe I have 15 followers already!) Also can't believe how addicting I'm finding blogging again!! Now that I actually have something to talk about, there's no stopping me ^^ So yesterday, I received a package and it was left outside my front door so mother and I didn't see it until the afternoon when she popped out for a second! And I'm very excited to show you what's inside!!

I have been hunting this product for a long time now and finally gave up with running around different Sally's and googled it to purchase it online! There's been so many raves and lovage about CHI's Silk Infusion (CHI standing for Cationic Hydration Interlink) and I have been dying to try it!! I think it has actually been discontinued now which is a bit rubbish since everyone seems to love it so much...

That was all I had purchased (from ALLTHINGSWOMAN) but Jo had also sent me a few little extra goodies! And they all came in these two beautiful red organza mesh pouch bags with gold hearts printed on them. There's a cute little sample spray of Etro Raving :) Its a little too sofisticated for me as I like very sweet scents and its slightly musky so I shall probably pass it onto my mother who will most likely never use it :P

And then a sample of Fenjal La Femme Shower Creme (Lotus) was also included, along with Revlon High Dimension Eyeliner in 03 Bronze Flash which is super creamy and glides on perfectly!!

I got up pretty early this morning (for me on a Sunday) at 7am to follow my parents to the local car boot sale! Father goes every week and is always on the lookout for any watches/clocks. I just thought it'd be nice to have a walk around and a look-see! A little bit of early morning walking never hurt anyone and round a carboot sale is a lot more interesting than just wondering around the housing estate :) We ended up with a couple of clocks, a long picture frame for my brother's university photograph, a brand new canon printer and a glass swan with a head too small for its body XD (Mother liked it as it opened up to store things and it was only £1)

So back onto beauty things, I did a very quick and simple natural look for my little 2 hour wander. (First ever LOTD!!! Wooop!)

Products used:
Missha M Perfect Cover B.B Cream in No.23 Natural Beige

The Body Shop Eye Trio in 02 Sundown Glow

Flat Shader Brush

The Body Shop Eye Definer in 13 Burnished Amber (lower lash line)

Eyeko Mascara

The Body Shop Divide & Mulitply Mascara in 01 Black

The Body Shop Blush Trio in 01 Cool Dusk

The Body Shop Blush Trio in 02 Wam Sunset (as contour shading)

MAC Hello Kitty SE187 Brush

MAC Lipstick in Creme Cup (Cremesheen)

I'm also trying out a technique for waving hair without heat which involves French Plaits/Braids. I split my hair into halfs (minus my fringe/bangs) and plaitted each half. Then put the two ends together and up into a small bun with a hairtie. I slept in the plaits and woke up without much time to mull over taking them out but I thought it looked cute to keep them in (and the carboot sale was HOT from the baking sun! Don't worry, I remembered my SPF!). They're actually still in and I'm kinda scared to take them out... but its okay because I'll be at home the rest of the day and I can wash it out tonight if it looks bad... Maybe another post later on how it turns out :)

Just one last thing, I tested out my sample of The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Serum. On first use, I love the way it instantly softened my skin! I just applied it all over my face before my usual moisturisers and I felt the moisture just being absorbed into my skin! This is something I will most likely be purchasing ^_^

Love love and Sundaylove!
